Winigar Family

The Winigar family came to America in 1722 and began moving West. John Winigar settled in the Kaycee area in 1889, and established the Red Cliff Ranch on Horse Creek, north of Kaycee. His son Jesse was a skilled artist, who captured local scenes of life in the West. He was naturally talented but also attended the Chicago Art Institute. He fought in WWI, and when he returned to Kaycee in 1919 was wearing a sharpshooter outfit after winning a sharpshooting contest.
